Michele Weir – Scat Singing 2 (Melody)

This session is all about melody making. We want multidimensional feeling in your melodic
lines that take the listener on a journey, a story, if you will. Take a tune that you like, and that you know
very well. Sing it on syllables, and then begin, little
by little, to depart from the melody. Motivic development. Something super common. We’re going to start with a very simple diatonic
pattern. We want to begin to build in chromaticism,
because we’re moving toward sounding really jazz authentic, and ya know, doing some pretty
cool sounding solos, right?
